Specialist in the supply of MARTIN MURDOCH |
This is who I am, what I have done and what I would still like to do.... Overview: Strengths:
History:
1996-2008: A range of design, sales and marketing roles with key international portable toilet manufacturers, initially concentrating on UK sales and latterly developing international business in Europe, The Middle East, Africa and India. Founder member, Council Member, Chairman and advisor to the UK’s portable toilet trade association, PSE: Portable Sanitation Europe Limited - www.pse.org.uk Also an Ordinary Member of the World Toilet Organisation - www.worldtoilet.org
In March 2010 I was offered the opportunity to join Saraplast Pvt. Ltd; based in Pune India, as the Chief Operating Officer, with the main focus of my experience being devoted to the successful implementation and undertaking of the sanitation facilities for the 2010 Commonwealth Games as held in New Delhi in October of that year. During the course of my time with Saraplast I also represented the company in working alongside the Dell Foundation with the introduction of improved welfare facilities within two slum areas of North Delhi, one scheme being undertaken with the implementation of portable toilet facilities being offered to the inhabitants of the Anan Vihar slum, a most worthwhile and ongoing undertaking. Other responsibilities were to improve the overall operational running of the company, who had at the time 9 locations spread around the country and to implement a system of central reporting and accountability, with the introduction of a central management computerized system.
I subsequently left Saraplast in early November having satisfactorily completed the work that I was asked to undertake and returned to the UK to take up the position of Spokesperson for the Trade Association Portable Sanitation Europe Ltd, PSE, of which I have been associated with, over the past 20 years.
However I still have connections to Saraplast and will endeavor to assist with the future development of the needs for the underprivileged within India as well as elsewhere in the world along with the contacts that I have made over the years; there is still an enormous amount of work to be achieved to bring both improved hygiene and sanitation facilities to those who most need it. If I can do anything to improve living conditions in such areas then I will do whatever I can to bring about social change and reform.
Future Plans:
Whilst there are undoubtedly still markets in Europe to be tapped, my additional aim is to offer my sales experience and design expertise to suitable partners interested in developing and selling products for markets and countries where the absence of adequate toilet facilities leads to disease, medical complications and even premature death, particularly in children.
I have been fortunate enough to travel to some of the world’s poorer regions and have been successful in the implementation of portable toilet facilities in many countries. I have seen at first hand the benefits that this system is able to bring about and I am convinced that my knowledge and enthusiasm for the product and the industry will be of major benefit.
